Deadlines extended! Poster submissions are now accepted on a rolling basis until Friday, September 25, 2026. Submit now

We invite researchers, practitioners, and students to submit posters to the IROS 2026 Workshop on Human-Level Robotic Teammates. We welcome work that advances the state of the art in cognitive robotics, agentic AI, neurosymbolic integration, and human-robot teaming. Submissions may describe original research, work-in-progress, position papers, late-breaking results, or demonstrations relevant to the workshop themes.

Accepted posters should be presented during the workshop's interactive poster session. Authors of selected work will also be invited to submit full papers to a special issue of the International Journal of Humanoid Robotics (see below). There is no separate submission deadline for the special issue; details will be provided to invited authors.

Submissions Open — Rolling

Deadline: Sunday, August 30 Friday, September 25, 2026, 23:59 Eastern Time

Submissions are now accepted on a rolling basis until Friday, September 25, 2026. Decisions are sent on a rolling basis as submissions are reviewed.

Topics of Interest

Submissions are welcome on any of the workshop's research topics, including (but not limited to) cognitive robotics and cognitive architectures, neurosymbolic integration, knowledge representation and reasoning, semantic perception and grounding in action, language and human-robot teaming, planning and metacognition, safety and explainability, and LLMs and foundation models in cognitive-robotic systems.

Two Ways to Present

In-person poster

Present your poster in person during the session. At least one author must register for the IROS 2026 workshop and be present at the poster.

Virtual poster

For authors who cannot travel to Pittsburgh, we offer a virtual poster track. Virtual submissions must include a short narration video (see below), which is featured during the workshop so remote contributions reach the full audience.

Review Process & Evaluation Criteria

All submissions are reviewed by the workshop's program committee. Review is single-blind: reviewers see author identities, while authors do not see reviewer identities. Submissions and abstracts are not made public. Reviewers assess submissions on:

  • Relevance to the workshop themes (cognitive robotics, neurosymbolic AI, human-robot teaming)
  • Clarity of presentation
  • Novelty or potential to spark productive discussion at the workshop

Important Dates

  • Submission deadline Sunday, August 30, 2026 Rolling until Friday, September 25, 2026, 23:59 Eastern Time
  • Notification of acceptance On a rolling basis, as submissions are reviewed
  • Camera-ready poster and final video due Sunday, September 27, 2026, 23:59 Eastern Time
  • Workshop date Thursday, October 1, 2026 (08:00 – 12:30)

All deadlines are 23:59 Eastern Time (EDT, UTC−4).

What to Submit

All submissions are made through OpenReview and include:

  • AbstractRequired A short description of the work, 300 words maximum.
  • PosterRequired PDF format, prepared in A0 portrait (841 × 1189 mm / 33″ wide × 46″ high).
  • Narration videoRequired for virtual A roughly one-minute video presenting your poster with voiceover narration, which may include animations or embedded clips. Optional but encouraged for in-person posters.
  • Highlight videoOptional A short video highlighting your work, played during the workshop's lightning round. Welcome on all submissions.

Videos may be uploaded directly (up to 50 MB) or, if larger, provided as a link.

Full Paper for IJHR Special Issue

International Journal of Humanoid Robotics

Authors of selected contributions are invited to submit full papers to a special issue of the International Journal of Humanoid Robotics (IJHR), subject to the journal's own peer-review process.

World Scientific, ISSN (print): 0219-8436 | eISSN (online): 1793-6942

Published by World Scientific Publishing Co. Pte Ltd and peer-reviewed since 2004, IJHR focuses on both the physical (motion, structure, mechanics) and mental (perception, cognition, control) aspects of humanoid and biologically-inspired robots.

Rights and Use of Materials

By submitting, authors confirm they hold the rights to their poster, video, and all embedded content, and grant the organizers a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to store, display, and share these materials on the workshop website and on third-party platforms (such as YouTube for videos).
